Empower Your Business: Understanding Control, Manipulation, and Domestic Violence in the Workplace
This session will equip entrepreneurs with the knowledge to recognize domestic violence signs in the workplace, financial abuse, understand how to respond appropriately, and access helpful resources. Learn how to create a safe and supportive environment for employees impacted by domestic violence.
- Recognizing the Signs: Key indicators of domestic violence affecting employees
- What to Do: Steps to take when you suspect an employee is experiencing domestic violence
- Resources: Local and national resources for victims and workplace support
- Opportunities for Questions: Open forum for addressing specific concerns and strategies for your business

Speaker(s): Patricia Varga, VP Donor and Community Relations. Patricia Varga brings over 25 years of experience in sales, marketing and business development, and most recently, 15 years of non-profit experience. Her role at Esperanza involves managing donor stewardship, events, donor appeals, PR, marketing and social media. She partners with the CEO to bring domestic violence education to the community and key stakeholders like the Santa Fe Police Department, Mayor’s and DA’s offices. Ms. Varga is a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard’s Publishing Program. When she is not working at Esperanza, she is the creative director for The Women with Wings Foundation and Create to Heal program. Ms. Varga is a published author and artist.
