Simple Steps to Start Your Business (A 5-Part Series)

This series offers invaluable insights, hands-on exercises, and personalized guidance to empower you on your path to entrepreneurial success. Designed for entrepreneurs and small business owners, this five-part course provides a structured roadmap to navigate the complexities of launching and growing your business successfully.

From crafting a winning business idea to licenses and permits, setting your prices, and crafting marketing and sales strategies, each session equips you with practical knowledge and actionable steps to turn your dreams into reality.

Wednesday July 10: Part 1 Planning and Organizing

In this class, we’ll walk you through the steps needed to plan and organize your ideas to get started. Together we’ll cover:

  • Money. How much is needed to get started?
  • Do you have enough? Where can you access more?
  • Time. How you can optimize your efficiency and get things done.
  • Skills. What is necessary to begin? Do you need to obtain new skills or identify other resources?

Wednesday July 17: Part 2 Licenses and Permits

You’ve done your research; you’ve thought up a business name and a product/service. And now . . . Make it official through licenses and permits. We’ll cover:

  • New Mexico Business Taxes EIN numbers
  • LLC vs. Sole Proprietorship
  • Business Licenses
  • Business Plans
  • Operating Agreements

Wednesday July 24: Part 4 Pricing for Profit

Are you puzzled because you’ve made a lot of sales but somehow, you’re not making the money you expected? You're investing your time, your resources, and your money. Whether you’re a start-up entrepreneur or existing business owner, make the time to explore your pricing options. It’s very possible to generate a lot of income but not make a profit… in fact, many businesses do exactly that. Learn the basic steps to evaluate pricing strategies, research competition, and determine how – and sometimes “if” - you can price your product or services competitively and make a profit.

Wednesday July 31: Part 3 Setting SMART Goals

What do you want to accomplish before the end of 2024? Now is the time to make a plan. In this class we’ll discuss:

  • How to determine your SMART goals
  • How to plan, implement and complete the goals you set

The process is simple. It’s the execution and completion that takes thoughtful planning and skill coupled with your serious desire to stay-on-task or make changes.

Wednesday August 7: Part 5 Marketing Clearly identify your product and create a comprehensive but flexible marketing path to reach your targeted customers. Identify the media options that should generate the most interest and action among those you want to serve. In this class we will review:

  • What is Marketing?
  • Why must I understand my product and potential customers?
