SFE 2023 Introduction to Studio Portrait Photography: A Demonstration Class in Santa Fe

What does it take to get a great portrait that captures your subject’s essence and provides the impression you want to share with your audience?

Join us for this IN-PERSON workshop where Professional Photographer Daniel Quat will demonstrate how to set up your portrait photo shoot for success. He will show us in real-time how lighting makes a difference, how to best work with the tools/lighting that you have, and the art of working with a model.

You’ll learn through demonstration:

  • Basic lighting principles; working with 1-4 lights
  • Working with clients: putting them at ease
  • Posing subjects
  • Ideas about capturing someone’s essence

Bring: Your cell phone cameras or other camera to practice with. The purpose of the workshop is to practice, learn, and see photos through real-time exploration and experience.

This class is limited to 10 participants- save your spot now!

Speaker(s): Daniel has been enamored with photography since he was 8 years old when he got his first camera and learned darkroom work. He opened up a commercial photo studio in NYC in the 70’s and photography has been his passion and profession for over 40 years. Growing up close to New York City, he frequented museums and dance concerts and later studied to become a massage therapist . His current photography practice in Santa Fe includes photographing Food, People, Family and Corporate Events, Dancers, Artists, Seniors and Business people and specializes in putting people at ease and capturing their essence in portraits.
