WNM 2021 Your Voice, Your Story: Indigenizing Women-owned Small Business Conference

We are pleased to announce the first annual WESST Farmington Women's Business Center Native American History Month Conference. We hope that the conference provides you with valuable information and strategies that will assist you in indigenizing small business and entrepreneurship.

We believe in opening the barriers for Indigenous women in entrepreneurship and protecting native artisans.

Virtual Event - Via Zoom November 10, 2021 | 9:00am - 12:00pm

9:05am - 10:00am - Protecting Indigenous Intellectual Property with the Indian Legal Program at Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at ASU

• This session will discuss intellectual property and the meanings and differences between Patent, Trademark, Copyright, Trade Secrets, and Right to Privacy laws and how and when to use them to protect your work. We will also discuss how your creative rights are impacted when you use social media for your business. We will also be sharing some of the current work being done on intellectual property in Indian Country at the Sandra Day O'Connor American Indian Legal Program to help protect Indigenous brilliance and creativity. The session will then end with a Q&A session.

10:05am - 11:00am - Indigenous Women-Owned Business Panel Discussion with Ahsaki LaFrance-Chachere, Alyssa Begay, Nichele Salazar, Sunni Begay, and Valene Hatathlie.

• This panel discussion will cover questions on how these women faced the challenge of leaving a 9 to 5 job, mistakes they made, and aspirations for the future while recovering from COVID-19.

11:05am - 12:00pm - Struggles with Financial Trauma: Changing the Relationship with Money with WESST Farmington Women's Business Center.

• This session will cover our relationships with money, how we save, how we view spending habits, and why we don't like to talk about money. Please join us for this newly develop session!
